This is something we've been in talks about doing for some time now but has taken some time to get off the ground. Style Director Selects showcases my favorite pieces from this season mixed with some other items from my wardrobe. Here we have the A.P.C. Lewis Long Coat in Camel and Reigning Champ Midweight Terry Longsleeve Crewneck Sweatshirt in Winter White.
In my mind, today is the FIRST official day of Fall in Houston seeing as a "cold front" has taken it's sweet time to get here. If you know me, you know I LOVE OUTERWEAR. I will make any excuse to wear a jacket of some sort here in Houston...all I need is less than triple digit temps and some A/C and I'm good. The reason I love outerwear so much is in Houston you barely get the opportunity to layer or wear outerwear and as they old adage goes, you want what you can't have. See in Houston the only Four Seasons you'll see is the hotel, so you really have to get creative with your wardrobe during our seasons...but thankfully pictures don't have temperatures. SIDENOTE: I LOVE BOYZ II MEN...YOU KNOW HOW HARD IS TO UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF 4 SEASONS OF LONELINESS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE 4 SEASONS?!? The struggle 'twas VERY REAL.
With the temperatures finally cooling it's nice to bring out a coat. There's nothing like a Camel colored coat to brighten one's wardrobe. I really love the Lewis Long Coat from A.P.C. in Camel. The Italian napped wool-cotton blend coat is sure to keep you warm during our "winter" months and what I like about it are the sleek lapels that give the coat a bit more of a dressy look. I love how versatile the coat is as it looks great with a tee, button down or even this Midweight Crewneck Sweatshirt from Reigning Champ in Winter White. The weight of the crewneck is perfect. I've had multiple Reigning Champ hoodies and crewnecks throughout the years and they've continued to hold their shape and have proven to be very sturdy and durable. As you may know Reigning Champ usually comes out with seasonal colors every season and what I like most about the Winter White color is that it practically goes with just about EVERYTHING. If you know or follow me, you know I have an affinity for all things patchwork. I WILL PRACTICALLY BUY ANYTHING PATCHWORK whether it be hats, sneakers, jackets, buttondowns or even pants. What I love about these pants are that they're unique. Being a person who generally dresses pretty "basic"(IMHO) most of the time, it's always good to add some character to your wardrobe every so often to help remind you that you were young once lol. For me, the pop in the pants really help complete the look. JUST DON'T OVER THINK IT.
Real talk, this look was "inspired" mostly by my daughter's visit to the eye doctor where she had surgery. While waiting in the wrong waiting room for somewhere along the lines of 30-45 mins with predominantly senior citizens with maaaddd style, one particular senior caught my eye. This Italian gentleman came strolling in with some rolled up sweats pants, Gucci loafers and a windbreaker jacket. I couldn't help but stare at how dope this man was dressed and while this look is not exactly the look I saw at the eye doctor, I have to give credit where credit is due.
TILL NEXT TIME YOUNG BLOODS.
